[Y]our friends in this country in general are well at this time. [Y]ou wrote concerning William Applegates family. [T]hey are all well except the old man who is still insane and no hopes of his ever being any better in this Life. [H]e is very peacable and confines himself at home but somewhat troublesom to his own family.
I now inform you that Asher still continues on the river and is Married to a lady of fortune. [M]y Daughter Hannah and her husband has been to Louisvill and saw his wife she was a widdow with two small children and owns a Large farm in the [A]rkensas state with forty Black slaves and other property in proportion.
[A]s for crops they look prosperous at present and Markets are reasonable good for this country. [W]heat is 87 1/2 cts, corn 37 1/2, oats 37 1/2 per bushel. Money is very uncertain there is a large number of Banks not current here.
I have nothing more to write worth your attention at present but express a desire to heare from you often as this is the only way we can hold any conversation together in our present situation. Adieu at present untill I hear from you again.
