Dear Son & Daughter

[A]greeable to your request I again with pleasure inform you that kind providence has Lengthened out our Span to let you know once more our present situation. [W]e are as well as can be expected from our ages and infirmities. [Y]our father still g[. . .] More Lame in his hip and is hardly able to get about. I allso have been very Lame in my back and hip but have got some better.

[W]e received your kind letter baring Date February 3d which gave us great pleasure to heare of your wellfare. [Y]our father has not been to Corrydon yet to see whether he can get his pension or not. [I]f he fails in geting it we shal then stand in nead of some assistance from you or some one else but I do not know how it could be conveyed here with safety unless some of your acquaintance was coming Down that you could Depend upon. I expect you could have oppertunityes to send things to Louisville often but we should never know of there being there.

[I]f you have regard for your parents that you profess in your Letters to have I would think you Might come and see us once more before we Leave this world of trouble. [T]he expense of the Journey would be small and not much time Lost and you are abler to [come]and see your aged parents than we are to come and see you. I shal now look with anxious eye for your coming.

[Y]ou Desired to know concerning William Applegate the Report you have heard is not true. [H]e is in good health and in a prosperous way of Living.

I add no more but Remain your kind parent till Death
