In the name of God, Amen, I William Applegate of the township of Shrewsbury Monmouth County New Jersey of sound and disposing mind do hereby make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say
First It is my will and I do order that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid soon as conveniently can be after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto my sons Thomas Henry Applegate and Charles Edgar Applegate the sum of eight thousand two hundred and nine dollars in equal shares, being the amount I received from my deceased wife Eleanor of the property she inherited from her father Thomas Seabrook
Item I direct my executors hereinafter named to invest the sum of three thousand dollars for the use and benefit of my son James P. Applegate and to pay him the interest thereof or expend the same for his benefit at their discretion during his natural life, and at his decease the said sum of three thousand dollars to vest in his heirs at law.
Item All the rest and residue of my estate personal and real, I give devise and bequeath to my four children Elizabeth P. Hopping, Catharine Walling, Thomas H. Applegate and Charles E. Applegate to them and their heirs and assigns forever to be equally divided between them share and share alike.
Lastly, I nominate and appoint my son Thomas H. Applegate and my son-in-law Thomas B. Walling executors of this my last will and testament with power to sell convey and execute deed or deeds for real estate
In witness whereof I hereto set my hand and seal this sixth day of March eighteen hundred and seventy seven

Signed published and declared by the said William Applegate to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who were Present at the same time and subscribed our names as witnesses 4n the presence of the testatee
