In the name of God Amen, I, John J. Applegate of the Township of Cranbury County of Middlesex & State of New Jersey being of sound and disposing mind and memory, and considering the uncertainty of this life, do make, publish and declare, this to be my last Will and Testament, as follows:

First, after my lawful debts are paid, I will that I be Buried in a proper and becoming manner and that a suitable headstone be placed over my grave. I order and direct that the 53 acres more or less of wood land and forests situated on Township Road be sold and the proceeds be disposed of as hereafter mentioned the property to be sold at public or private sale and the executors to give a good and sufficient deed therefore.

I will and bequeath to my wife Abigail Applegate the House in which she now resides on the Main St in Cranbury and also the house on Washington Street now occupied by Mr. Givens to be free and clear from all encumbrances to have the use and income from as long as she may live.

I give and bequeath to my son Edmund Applegate the mortgage amounting to twenty nine hundred dollars which I hold against him.

I give and bequeath unto my son William Applegate the mortgage amounting to eight hundred dollars which I have on his farm in Illinois.

I give and bequeath unto my grandson George Applegate son of William Applegate five hundred dollars.

I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Rachel Applegate daughter of William Applegate one hundred dollars.

I give and bequeath unto my son William Applegate the residue of my estate.

I give and bequeath unto my son William Applegate the two houses in Cranbury after the death of Abigail Applegate.

I hereby appoint Derrick G. Perrine to be executor of this my last will and testament.

I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal, the second day of June in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and eighty five.
