In the name of God Amen I William W. Applegate of the Township of Monroe and County of Middlesex and State of New Jersey, Being of sound mind memory and understanding for which blessing I thank God do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following:

First: It is my will and I do order all my real and personal estate to be sold by executors herein after mentioned and my just debts and funeral expenses be paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently can be after my decease.

Second: It is my will and I do order my executors to pay my daughter Jane E. Applegate the sum of five hundred dollars for her services out of my real and personal estate one year following my decease.

Third: I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Margaret M. Applegate all the remainder and residue of my estate for and during her natural life, and at her death to be equally divided share and share alike viz: Richard H. Applegate, William A. Applegate, Jane E. Applegate and the heirs of James H. Applegate decd, viz Catherine E. Applegate, Thomas J. Applegate, Richard R. Applegate, Charles H. Applegate and Frank A. Applegate as they arrive twenty one years of age and if any one of the heirs of James W. Applegate should die without lawful issue then I order and my will is that the portion herein devised to such child shall be equally divided between the remainder of such children share and share alike.

Forth: It is my will that my executors keep in their hands all the shares of James H. Applegate decd heirs and put it out at interest till they arrive twenty one years of age.

Lastly, I hereby appoint my son Richard H. Applegate and my friend John B. Applegate executors of this my last will and testament and guardians of the heirs of James H. Applegate decd during their minority.

Signed sealed and delivered by the said
William W. Applegate to be his testament
and last will in the presence of us who William his mark
at his request and in his presence and Applegate
in the presence of each of us have subĀ¬
scribed our names as witnesses this 11
day of October 1866.
