In the name of God Amen I Sarah F. Appelgate of the Township of Upper Alloways Creek in the County of Salem State of New Jersey being of sound mind and understanding for which blessing I thank God, do make and publish this my last will and testament in the following manner to whit.

1st It is my will and I do order my executor herein after named to pay all my just debts and funeral expenses including tombstones like those of my husband be purchased & placed on my grave

2d I give to Joseph H C Appelgate my half of the homestead including the house and four acres of land belonging to the same Situated on the South Side of Main Street in Allowaystown

3d I give Joseph H C Appelgate the sum of two hundred dollars I give to my granddaughter Mary T Hornblower two hundred dollars I give to Joseph C Hornblower one hundred dollars I give to Jos C Hornblower Sr one hundred dollars I give to my two grand children one undivided one half of the house where I now reside

5th I give to Anna E Turbot the sum of one hundred dollars

6th I give to Mary S Hornblower my silver tea spoons my set of china dishes and my large bible

6th I do order the balance of my personal estate to be sold at public auction Sale & if there is any thing left after paying all expenses I give the balance to my grandson Joseph C Hornblower

Lastly I do appoint Joseph C Hornblower Sr executor of this may last will and testament Dated this third day of December Eighteen hundred and eighty three

A Codicil to My Will I do hereby appoint Joseph H.C.Appelgate executor of my last will in place of Joseph C Hornblower
