Know all men by these presents that I Cassander Applegate, widow of Aaron H Applegate of the Borough of Elizabeth, County of Allegheny, and State of Pennsylvania, being in ill health, and of sound mind and disposing mind and memory, do make and publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made.


And as to my worldly estate, and all property real, personal, or mixed, of which I shall die seized and possessed, or to which I shall be entitled at the time of me decease, I dispose, devise, and bequeath in manner following, to wit:


First, my will is that all my just debts and funeral expenses shall, by my executor, hereinafter named, be paid out of my estate, as soon after my decease as shall by teem be found convenient.


Item - The farm containing one hundred and sixty five more or less situate in the Township of Forward, County of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, adjoining lands of James McClure, John Peterson, P.A. Lytle, and others, now occupied by George Lutes as tenant, together with House and lot in the Borough of Elizabeth, county and state aforesaid, said house and lot being situate on the corner of Second Street and Mulberry Alley, no occupied in part by myself as a residence and in part by James McClure tenant, said property, viz: Farm and House Lot to remain in the possession of the aforesaid tenants for one year from the first day of April AD 1876 on the conditions of the present existing agreements.


Said real Estate to be sold by my executor and the proceeds thereof, together with the proceeds of certain Mortgage executed to me by Messrs. McKnight, Porter & Co. of the City of Pittsburgh for Fifteen Hundred Dollars and interest to be disposed of as follows:


Item - I hereby authorize and instruct my executor to invest one thousand Dollars in a home for the use and benefit of the wife and children of my nephew Vean E Porter the same to be secured to the heirs of the said V.E. Porter.


Item - I devise, give and bequeath to my beloved adopted daughter, Mary F. Thompson, wife of W.E. Thompson, Five hundred Dollars.


Item - I give, devise and bequeath to my eloped nephew, William Harvey Porter, of the State of Illinois, Five Hundred Dollars.


Item - I devise, give and bequeath to my beloved niece Cassander Virginia Porter, daughter of James Porter of the state of Illinois Five hundred Dollars.


Item - I give, devise and bequeath to Aaron Lutes, Nephew of Harvey Applegate and son of Henry and Ellen Lutes of the State of Iowa, Five Hundred Dollars.


Item - I give devise and bequeath to Mary Elizabeth Lutes (married) daughter of Henry and Ellen Lutes of the State of Indiana, Five Hundred Dollars.


Item - I give, devise, and bequeath in trust to the Methodist Episcopal Church of the Borough of Elizabeth, County of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, Eight Hundred Dollars.  Said Eight Hundred Dollars to be placed at interest and kept at interest until the Methodist Episcopal Church of the Borough of Elizabeth shall erect a new church edifice.  When the said Eight hundred Dollars with the accrued interest shall be paid to the Trustees of said church.


Item - I give, devise and bequeath the my niece Cassander Virginia Proter My Gold Watch and chain.  Also, one Sett Silver table spoons also one Sett Silver Tea spoons.


Item - I give devise and bequeath to James Harvey Yant of Washington County  Pennsylvania, One Eight Day clock.


Item - I give, devise and bequeath to my niece Cassander Virginia Porter One Feather Bed.


Item - I give, devise and bequeath to Mary F Thompson, wife of of H E Thompson and Laura Porter, wife of Vean E Porter all the residue of my household and kitchen furniture to be divided by and between them as they may deem best.


Item - I hereby authorize my executors to hand to Harvey H McClure of the Borough of Elizabeth, a certain note, which will be found among my papers signed by the said H H McClure and cling for two Hundred Dollars as I desire the same to be canceled without collection.


Item - I hereby authorized to place or have placed at my grave a Head and foot stone to correspond with the stones at the grave of my deceased husband.


All the rest and residue of my estates, real, personal, and mixed, of which I shall die seized and possessed or to which I shall be entitled at my decease, I give, devise and bequeath to be equally divided to and among the following persons:  Harvey H McClure of the Borough of Elizabeth, Allegheny County Pennsylvania,  Aaron H. Applegate of the State of Ohio and James Harvey Yant of Washington County Pennsylvania, nephews of my deceased husband Aaron Harvey Applegate.


And lastly I do nominate and appoint James McClure of the Township of Forward, County of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania to be the executor of this my last will and testament.


In testimony whereof I the said Cassander Applegate have to this my last will and testament written on one sheet of paper, subscribed my name and affixed my seal this Fifteenth day of March A.D. One thousand Eight hundred and seventy six.

Signed, sealed, and published and declared by the said Casander Applegate as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us who at her request and in her presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.
