In the Name of God Amen.


I Jesse Applegate of Elizabeth Township, Allegheny County and State of Pennsylvania, being of sound mind and understanding, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all other wills by me heretofore made.


And first:  I appoint my friend Brisben Wall executore [sic] of this Instrument.


Second, I will and bequeath to my wife Susann as much Household Stuff as Shee [sic] may need, Excepting that I bequeath to my Step Daughter Elizabeth Todd, hereinafter mentioned, also one Cow and a sufficient amount of Provisions for the Support of herself and Family untill [sic] the Farm upon which she now, and may continue to reside is Sold.  I bequeath to my wife also the Sum of Three Thousand (3000.00) dollars to be paid to her as I shall hereinafter direct, and what I Bequeath to my wife I intend Shall be in lieu of her Dower in my estate.


Third, I will and Bequeath to my Step Daughter Elizabeth Todd, One Bead [sic] and Beading [sic] One Set of Can bottom Chairs, one set of Silver Table Spoons, one Cow, and also, the sum of Three Thousand (3,000) dollars, to be paid as hereinafter directed.


Fourth, I give and bequeath to my Daughter Hannah Eliza Moor, the Sum of Three hundred (300.00) dollars to be paid to her as hereinafter directed.


Fifth, I give and bequeath to my Grandsons Lindon and Jesse Power, the sum of one hundred and fifty (150.00) dollars each to be paid as hereinafter directed.


Sixth, I give and bequeath to my Grandson George W Craft, the sum of Eight-hundred (800.00) dollars, to be aid to him as hereinafter directed.


Seventh, I Direct, that my executor Shall in a reasonable time after my Decease, Sell all the residue of my Personal Property, and appropriate the proceeds of the same towards paying off my funeral expenses and other just debts, and I also empower and Direct my executor to Sell all my Real Estate, in the manner which he may think to be, to the best-posible [sic] advantage, and with the proceeds, after all my Debts and necessary expenses being paid, Distribute and pay to my wife, and all the other Legatees, before named, the several sums of Money, as they are herein respectively mentioned, or named; that is: to my wife Three Thousand dollars, to Elizabeth Todd, Three Thousand dollars, to Hannah Eliza Moor, Three hundred dollars, to Lindon and Jesse Power each, one hundred and fifty dollars, to George W. Craft, Eight hundred dollars, amounting in the aggregate, to Seven Thousand four hundred dollars.


Eigth [sic], I will and direct, that after having complied with the directions herein contained and paying the expenses of settling [sic] my estate, if there should be any overplus of money, Such overplus, Shall be by my executor equally divided between my Daughter Hannah Eliza Moor and my Grand Sons Lindon Power Jesse Power and George W. Craft, share and share alike to each.


Witness my hand and seal this nineteenth day of January AD one thousand and sixty nine Jan 19th 1869

The writing contained on this and the preceding pages was signed and sealed by the above named Jesse Applegate, and by him published and declared as and for his lat will and Testament, in the presence of us, who have hereunto subscribed our names in his presence and in the presence of each other.
