I, Martha R. Applegate, a resident of Daviess County, Kentucky, do make and publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking any and all former wills by me made.
First: I desire all of my just debts be paid.
Second: All the rest and residue of my estate of any nature and kind whatsoever, real, personal, or mixed, I will devise and bequeath to my son, Clark Applegate, to be his for and during the whole of his natural life, and upon the death of my said son, I will and devise and bequeath my estate of every nature and kind whatsoever to the Owensboro Lodge of Elks, to be used for the benefit of the widows, mother [sic] and sisters of Elks.
Third: I direct that my said farm be not sold, but held, first, for the use and benefit of my son during the whole of his natural life, and next for the use of the Owensboro Lodge of Elks, for the purposes hereinabove set out.
In Testimony Whereof, witness my signature, this the 25th day of August, 1924.
