Will of S. Elizabeth Wilkes Appelget

Middlesex County (NJ) Will Book 30, pp. 311-312


I, S. Elizabeth Wilkes Appelget of the township of Cranbury County of Middlesex and State of New Jersey do make and publish this my last Will and testament, in manner following: That is to say


First  I direct that all my just debts and expenses be paid, as soon as conveniently can be after my decease.


Second.  I give and bequeath unto my beloved sister Mary Worstall my cut glass bowl presented to me by the members of the Van Houten Post No 3. Department of New Jersey Grand Army of the Republic, realizing fully that its crystal surface will ever remind her of a dear sister, over the depths of whose love and affection the clear crystal of her thoughts were never clouded nor their light diminished.


Third.  I give and bequeath to my son William Wilkes, the furniture he is now using in his bedroom also my writing desk now at 204 Second Street, Trenton


Fourth.  I give to my Mother the wardrobe now in her residence.


Fifth.  I give devise and bequeath to my executor hereinafter named all my right title and interest in any real estate of which I may die seized, or be entitled to wherever the same may be; In trust never theless [sic] for the following uses and purposes viz. that my executor shall sell and dispose of the same if a sale be necessary, or if not then to receive and collect the product of said realty and pay the same over to my dearly loved daughter Minnie Wilkes with my full hearts grattitude [sic] regretting only that I cannot make it a thousand fold greater, in evidence of her mothers love and appreciation for her life long affection loyalty and devotion and I further give devise and bequeath to my said daughter all the residue and remainder of my estate, real personal or mixed not herein otherwise disposes of to be given to her as soon as may be expedient.  Provided always, that in case of my daughters death, prior to her arriving at the age of twenty one years or her marriage, then and in that case, I give devise and bequeth [sic] her said portion to my husband and my son, William share and share alike.


I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my husband Adrian S. Appelget to be the executor of this my last Will and testament, with full power to sell any and all of my real estate, at such times and upon such terms, and in such manner as he deem best for the interest of my estate, and to give proper and lawful deeds of conveyance for the asme, for all such as I may now possess or be entitled to.


In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifteenth day of June A D nineteen hundred and sixteen.

Signed sealed published and declared by the above named Sarah Elizabeth Wilkes Appelget to be her last Will and testament in the presence of us, who were present at the same time and signed our names as witnesses in the presence of the testatrix and of each other.
