Will of Minard Applegate

Middlesex County (NJ) Will Book 30, pp. 272-273


In the name of God, Amen.


I, Minard Applegate of the Borough of Jamesburg, in the County of Middlesex and State of New Jersey, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, make and publish my last will and testament as follows:-


First:-  It is my will and I do order that all my just debts and my funeral expenses be paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently can be after my decease.


Second:- I give, bequeath and devise, the house and lot on Gatzmer Avenue, Jamesburg, N. J., where I now reside, together with the furniture and personal property therein to my wife Minnie E. Applegate, to her and her heirs and assigns, subject to the payment of the sum of five hundred Dollars to my son Le Roy E. Applegate, in one year after my decease, and I do hereby give the said sum of Five hundred Dollars to my said son and charge my real estate and personal property with the payment thereof, making them liable to be sold in case my said wife shall not pay the sum aforesaid.


Third:- Having made provisions in other ways during my lifetime for my said wife, by which she will benefit after my decease, I hereby direct and declare that the devises and bequests made in and by this last will and testament to my said wife are to be made and received by her in lieu of dower.


Fourth:-  I constitute and appoint my said wife, Minnie E. Applegate, sole executrix of this my last will and testament and appoint her guardian of our son Le Roy E. Applegate, during his minority, and I do hereby revoke any former wills by me made.


In witness hereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal at Jamesburg, New Jersey, this Twenty eight day of July in the year of our Lord, One thousand nine hundred thirteen.

Signed, acknowledged, and declared by the said Minard Applegate as and for his last will and testament, in the presence of us, (both being present at the same time) who, at his request, in his presence, and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
