In the name of God Amen. In view of the uncertainty of life and desirous to settle my worldly affairs while I have strength and ability so to do, with sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding I Daniel W. Applegate of the Township of Freehold County of Monmouth and State of New Jersey do make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner following

First of all I commit my soul to God who gave it, and my body to be buried in a Christian like manner at the discretion of my executor hereinafter named, and as to my worldly estate I dispose of it as follows. I first order all my just debts and funeral expenses to be paid as soon as they can conveniently after my decease

Item I give and bequeath to my son Asher Applegate one cow, one feather bed and bedding one farm wagon one horse one set of double harness one carry all wagon by paying one hundred dollars in two years after my decease to my estate

Item I give and bequeath to my son Elijah Applegate the sum of fifty cents

Item I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Applegate the sum of fifty cents

Item I give and bequeath to my son David Applegate his heirs and assigns forever three acres and twenty two hundredths of an acre now occupied by him and lying on the north side of the North Branch of Metedeconk river, adjoining lands of said David Applegate, Isaac Applegate and Asher Applegate

Item It is my will that all the rest and residue of my real and personal estate be sold at Public Auction within two years after my decease or as soon thereafter as my executors shall deem most expedient that the best price may be obtained therefore and that the proceeds thereof be equally divided among the rest of my following named children their heirs or assigns Lewis Applegate, Cornelius Applegate, Henry Applegate, Joseph Applegate, Isaac Applegate, Sarah E. Mount, Eleanor Hulse, Peony Ann Smith, Susan Applegate, Ursula Hyers and Mary Thompson share and share alike.

And lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my two sons Cornelius Applegate and Joseph Applegate the executors of this my last will and testament and revoke all other and former wills made and executed by me In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this second day of January one thousand eight hundred and seventy two
