Dated July the Fourth Eighteen hundred and Seventy.

In the name of God Amen. I Jacob I. Applegate of the Township of Dover County of Ocean and State of New Jersey being of sound mind and memory and understanding for which blessing I do thank Almighty God do make and publish this my last will and testament in form and manner as follows

(first) it is my will and I do order my executors hereinafter named to pay my just debts and funeral charges as soon as conveniently can be after my decease

(2) and as some of my children have had more than others and it is my intension to make them equal therefore I order my executors to advertise and sell my property both personal and real at public sale to the highest bidder wherever it my be found when this done and all my just debts be fully satisfied and my children after accounting for the charges here preferred against them without alteration then the balance to be equally divided among them share and share alike if any of these should die before the division their portion goes to their heirs if they have any if not let it be equally divided among the living

(3) my daughter Emily must account for two hundred and seventy five dollars, my son Timothy must account for one thousand dollars, my son William must account for twelve hundred dollars, my daughter Clara must account for fifty seven dollars, my daughter Clementine my estate is bound to pay her for her service one thousand dollars together with her piano and bedstead bed and bedding There is no charge against her I consider it a debt and to be paid, my daughter May Hannah must account for ten hundred and fifty dollars, my son Jacob I. there is no charge against him. I wish my executors after paying all my just debts and legal charges to make them all equal with William as he has had the most then divide the balance equally among them all share and share alike

lastly I do appoint my son Timothy and my daughter Clementine executors of this my last will and testament.

A true and perfect inventory and appraisement of the personal property of Jacob I. Applegate late of the County of Ocean deceased made by Clementine Applegate Executor the other having renounced and Washington M. Kean and John T. Chambers two disinterested freeholders this twenty fifth day of February A.D. 1875.
