Note that the death and internment information appearing on the findagrave site is quite confusing. I will prefer official documentation, which indicates Mary G Applegate was the daughter of James Greenwood and Anna Greenwood. She was born in Philadelphia in about 1864 (age at death 38) and died in Camen, NJ , on 9 March 1902, and interred at Oakland Cemetery in Philadelphia. (See attached death and internment records). She was the mother of William Applegate, born 10 Feb 1889, died 27 Jun 1910 in Camden, interred at Oakland Cemetery in Philadelphia.
Thomas F Applegate on findagrave states Mary A Greenwood as born 1860 in Philadelphia, died 1907 in Camden, NJ, and was the mother of numerous children besides William.
There may be a there are noted problems with this line. | Greenwood, Mary A (I2790)

Mrs. A.Ward Applegate fell to her death down the basement steps of the Hinkle Creek Friends Church, Wednesday evening at nine o'clock. She was there with her husband attending the April meeting of the Womens Society. Mrs. Applegate had just concluded giving the evening lesson on Friends work in Ramallah, Jordan, which included color pictures of the Holy Land which she and Dr. Applegate had taken during their stay in that country at Easter time in 1960. At the conclusion of the exhibit Mrs. Applegate climbed the stairs to switch on the basement lights and upon her return fell the length of the short flight. Her head struck the cement floor and she died instantly of a massive concussion. The group of some sixteen women and Dr. Applegate witnessed the tragedy.
Mrs. Applegate (Lena Grace) was the daughter of Rev. Henry J. and Clemma Hobbs Lorenz. She was born in Ada, Kansas, Sept. 11,1894. Her mother died when she was five years old and she came to the home of her mother's sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Knower, five miles northwest of Noblesville, with whom she lived until her marriage to A. Ward Applegate Nov. 1,1914.
They were the parents of two children, Raymond Kenneth, who died in 1944 at 28 years of age, and Esther (Mrs. Harry E. Foster) who with her family live in Saudi-Arabia. Mr. Foster is a teacher in the schools of the Arabian American Oil Company. They have lived there since 1953. A grandson, David H. Foster is a senior in Friends George School in Philadelphia, Pa., and Eldon Foster, 15, who is at home. They were to return to the States on a long leave, for the summer, the first of June.
Mrs. Applegate began her life's work as a minister's wife in 1918 when Ward Applegte served the Hinkle Creek congregation as pastor until 1923. They were then at the Centerville Friends Church until 1929. From 1929 to 1934 they were at the Union Street Friends Church in Kokomo, IN. In 1934 they moved to Wilmington, OH, where Dr. Applegate served the Friends Church as pastor until their retirement in 1958. Since then they have again served at Hinkle Creek.
Mrs. Applegate traveled widely among Friends all over the world, with her husband, in his denominational activity. Having visited all but one of the major Quaker centers in the world, she was widely known among Friends everywhere.
At the time of her death she was a member of the Cozy Homemakers Club in the Cicero area and was just finishing her second year as president of the Country Research Club. She has served as consultant on Friends World Committee for many years.
In addition to her husband, daughter and two grandsons, she is survived by a brother, Ira Lorenz, Minneapolis, Kansas and by three half sisters and three half brothers. A sister, Mrs. Clifford Bennett, died in New Orleans on April 3, 1965. Two other sisters and one brother also preceded her in death. | Lorenze, Lena Grace (I6866)
