MARJORIE BERNHARD APPLEGATE
Marjorie Bernhard Applegate, a resident of Dothan, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at her residence. She was 81. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2012, at the First Assembly of God Church in Dothan, with Rev. Myrice McNab and Rev. Bob Rivers officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. CDT in Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City, AL with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 a.m. Friday until service time. Mrs. Applegate was preceded in death by Loyal Lon Applegate. She is survived by two sons, two daughters, eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and three sisters. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Rd., Dothan, AL 36303. Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street, (334) 793-3003, is in charge of arrangements.

Mary B. Applegate died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lois Hartenstein, at Freneau, on Saturday [27 Dec 1913]. Mrs. Applegate was the widow of Charles M. Applegate, who for many years kept the "Old Spye Inn" at Morgan, and the place was a noted one for sportsmen from all sections of the state. After Mr. Applegate left the Hotel there, he went to Freneau with his wife and they made their home with their daughter. He died a few years ago.
Besides her daughter, with whom she lived, Mrs. Applegate is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Ward B. Snyder, of Perth Amboy, and two sons, Stanton of Perth Amboy and J.E. of Freneau. The funeral services were held at 2 o'clock, Monday afternoon, and the internment was in Christ Cemetery, South Amboy, Tuesday morning. The Matawan Journal, 02 Jan 1914
