    OBITUARY:
    AGED WAYNESTWON RESIDENT IS DEAD
    Mrs. Amanda Applegate, 71 dies at residence after illness of months

    Waynestown, Ind., Jan4. _ (CBS) Mrs. Amanda Applegate, 71, died at 11 oclock Saturday night at her home, three and a half mile northeast of Waynestown, having been in declining health four years and seriously ill four months of complication.
    Mrs. Applegate was born April 22, 1860, near Rossville, Ill., the daughter of James and Nora (Mary) Phillips Glaze. She was married Oct., 31, 1883 to Henry E. Applegate and had resided in Montgomery County more that forty years. She was a member of Waynestown Baptist Church.
    Surviving are her husband; a son, Harry, at home, a brother, Thomas Glaze, Lurrary, Kas; a half brother, Ira Glaze, Garden City, Kas., and a step brother S. E. Grenard of near Waynestown.
    Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 oclock Tuesday afternoon in the United Brethren Church by Rev. E. H. Elmore of Crawfordsville. Burial will be in Waynestown Masonic Cemetery.


    APPLEGATE FUNERAL IS HELD TUESDAY

    Waynestown. Jan. 6 Funeral services for Mrs. Amanda Applegate, who passed away at her home near here Saturday night, were conducted at the Baptist church on Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. H. H. Elmore of Carwfordsville officiated. Above the Bright Blue, "The hand that was wounded for me, and I want to go there, were sung by Mrs. Henry Masters, Mrs. C. R. Bunnell, W. S. Merrell and Charles Ellis, accompanied by Mrs. M. B. Snyder.
    Pall bearers were Frank Glaze, Dayton, Ind.; William Williams, of Danville, Ind.; Bert McCluskey, Walter Grenard, Crawfordsville; Elmer McCluskey, Mace; and Arnet Grenard, Waynestown. Tribute bearers were Mrs. William Glaze, New Richmond; Mrs. Eunice Coons, Wingate; Mrs. John Baldwin, Crawfordsville; Mrs. Alvah Cronkhite, Rossville, Ill.; Mrs. Frank Lyons, Stockbridge, Mich.; Mrs. Russell Long, Crawfordsville; and Miss Margaret Swank, Veedersburg. Burial was made in the Waynestown Masonic Cemetery.
    The services were largely attended, the many out-of-town persons including Mrs. Charles Armanatrout and daughters of Lafayette; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hamilton and family of Pence, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Tillman Hamilton, Hume, Ill.; Frank Lyons, Stockbridge, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Simon Applegate, Alva Cronkhite, Rossville, Ill.; Mrs. Golda Marshal and Mrs. Crane, Wingate.; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer McCluskey and Family of Mace.; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hybarger, Mr. and Mrs. Bert McCluskey and Family, John Baldwin of Crawfordsville; William Glaze, New Richmond; Mr. and Mrs. William Williams and family of Danville, Ill.
    The passing of Mrs. Applegate marks a community loss. Though in declining health for the past four years, her forty years residence in the county has endeared her to many persons.
