In the name of God Amen I John Applegate of South Brunswick in the County of Middlesex and State of New Jersey being in reasonable health and of sound and disposing mind and memory But calling to mind my mortality and that it is appointed for all men once to die Do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say first I bequeath my soul into the hand of God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner by my executors herein after mentioned And as to such worldly goods wherewith it has pleased God to bless me, I do hereby bequeath and dispose of the same in manner following.

First I do order and direct that all my just debts and financial charges be fully paid

Second, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret Applegate or now Margaret Slover the sum of five dollars

Third I give and bequeath unto my daughter Anne Applegate or now Anne Bennet the sum of fifty dollars

Fourth I give and bequeath unto my son Abraham Applegate all my Real and personal estate after my disease By his paying out all the legacies herein mentioned within the term of Four years after my death.

Fifth I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph Applegate the sum of five dollars

Sixth I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Applegate the sum of Fifty dollars.

Seventh I give and bequeath unto my daughter Phebe Applegate or now Phebe Griggs the sum of Fifty Dollars

Eighth I give and bequeath unto my son Elias Applegate the sum of one hundred dollars.

Ninth I also give and bequeath unto my said daughter

furniture that is in the room which she occupies in my house and to be and remain and be maintained and to have the same privileges as she had so long as she remains a single or an unmarried woman those bequeaths to be with the aforesaid fifty dollars.

Tenth I give and bequeath unto my grandson John Applegate, son of Abraham a two year old colt which he now claims

And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Abraham Applegate my sole executor of this my last will and testament hereby giving him full power and authority to act sell and convey as if I were personally present

And I do hereby revoke and disavow all former wills by me made and publish pronounce and declare this and this only to be my last will and testament in manner aforesaid.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventh day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and thirty two.
