Richard E. Applegate., 75, died Wednesday, November 7, 2007, in Louisville. He was born October 9, 1932, in Indianapolis, IN. He was a graduate ofScottsburg High School and received The Scottsburg High School Outstanding Alumni Award in 1979. He completed courses with American Institute ofBanking School with Lee Hamilton as the instructor. He was a member of Scottsburg United Methodist church and a member of Scottsburg First BaptistChurch and past financial secretary, assoc. member of Amick-Baker-Kellems FOP Lodge #156, co-chair several years for George Rogers Clark Boy Scoutsof America, member of board and treasurer for The Scottsburg Educational Loan Fund, past treasurer of Scottsburg Alumni Association, trustee andtreasurer of Old Ox Baptist Church, past councilman of City of Scottsburg, past member of Board of Works City of Scottsburg, the City Water WorksBoard and past president, past Zoning Board member, and a Diamond Club member of State Banking, member of Scott County Extension Office Board andtreasurer of Scott County 4-H Clubs, board member on Main Street USA Project for City of Scottsburg, board member and treasurer of ScottsburgSidewalk Project, charter member of Desert Shield Support Group of Scott County. He retired from Scott County State Bank in 1996 starting his careerMay 24, 1954 in bookkeeping, held titles with the bank as manager of the installment loan department, assistant cashier, cashier, vice president andtrust officer January 10 1967, exec. vice president & trust officer February 19 1974, member of the Board of Directors of Scott County State BankMarch 11 1976, asst. secretary of Board of Directors of the Scott County State Bank, member of the board and also served as secretary and treasurerat Scott County Building Corp., received title October 2 1979 of senior vice president of Scott County State Bank and on August 19 1988 was namedpresident of Scott County State Bank, he was retired from board of directors in 2006. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and MaudeRichey Applegate; brother Floyd Applegate; and his granddaughter, Kayla Nicole Applegate. He is survived by his wife, Lavaughn Adams Applegate ofScottsburg; sons, Richard Lynn Applegate (Patricia) of Scottsburg, Timothy D. Applegate (Carolyn) of Scottsburg; sister-in-law, Marjorie Applegateof Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Timothy Lee Applegate, Jared Levi Applegate, Lindsay Nicole Applegate and Bradley Andrew Applegate. Funeral wasat Scottsburg United Methodist, with Pastor Steve Brackney and, Pastor John Gillespie officiating. Burial in Scottsburg Cemetery.
